Where it fits

A side window, the quarter glass behind a door, a tumbler or a water bottle. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Baton raised, plume on the hat

Mid-signal, a drum major lifts a long thin baton high in one hand, wearing a tall hat topped with a plume. Braided cords loop across the front of the uniform as small cut-out shapes. The body is one solid mass that reads from far away. The baton and the plume are the fine parts.

Band parents, this one is for the rear quarter glass of the car that hauls the uniform bag. The baton points up along the narrow pane, and the plume clears the frame. A drum major can put it on an instrument case instead, which works just as well.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
