Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

A shopping cart pushing the words

Italic capitals spell "Grocery Getter" in two lines that lean forward, set beside a shopping cart drawn as a solid frame with a grid basket and two round wheels. The words tuck in behind the cart handle, as if it is pushing them along. The heavy letters and the cart read from across a lot. The thin gaps in the basket grid show close.

Minivan, wagon or a lifted truck that mostly hauls milk and cereal: put it low on the rear glass and it says what the vehicle really does all week. Consider it fair warning to anyone who expects more from it at a green light.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
