Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Two words in heavy blackletter

Lowercase blackletter carries the whole design: "mexican pride" on two lines, the second word centered under the first. The letters have sharp diamond feet, split serifs and a curling x, the strokes heavy and the counters small. From a distance you read two dark, dense words, and up close the hooks and points of each letter come into view.

Center it on the strip of glass above your third brake light, two lines of old blackletter reading level across the back. Carry your Mexican roots with you? This is the old-script look that goes with them, and it says so without any extra words.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
