Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

One stenciled word, set in a row

"SECURITY" runs in a single line of tall stencil capitals, each letter broken by the narrow bridges a stencil leaves, so the S, the C and the R look sprayed through a cut plate. The strokes are thick and the gaps between them are wide. From the far end of a lot you read the word before you notice the bridges.

Give it a straight edge to sit on, like the top of a cargo door or the lid of a gear case. Center it, step back, and make sure it runs level before you press it down. Guards, event crews and anyone who works a door will find a use for it.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
