Where it fits

A laptop lid, a toolbox, a rear window corner or a gear case. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Two words set in old saloon type

"Catfish Hunter" is stacked on two lines in tall, narrow letters with flared serifs and hooked tails, the kind of type you see on an old saloon sign. The C and H carry a pinched notch in the middle, and the h and n swing their last stroke down below the line. There is no picture, only the words, and the heavy strokes read well from a distance.

A tackle box lid is the natural home, and your rod locker works too. If you fish the river at night for flatheads and blues, you already know what the two words mean, and so will the people at the boat ramp.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
