Where it fits

Along the bottom of a rear window, a bumper, a tailgate or the top of a cargo door. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

A runner's challenge in two lines

The phrase "i run like a girl but try to keep up" is set in tall, rounded hand-drawn lowercase on two lines, breaking after "girl". Letters are narrow, with long ascenders and a hooked g and y. With no heart or figure, the decal is the words alone, and they read from the car behind you at a stoplight.

Race mornings start in the dark, in the car you drive to the start line. Put the two lines on its rear bumper, where the car behind at a light gets the whole message. Runners who sign up for 5Ks, trail races or the long ones will grin.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
