Where it fits

A rear window corner, a toolbox lid, a cooler side or a laptop lid. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

IS for Iceland, set in a travel oval

Heavy sans-serif capitals spell "IS", cut out of a solid oval so the surface behind shows through the letters. Around it a thin outer ring follows the edge with a narrow gap, in the shape travelers know from European plates. The straight I and the curved S are both thick, so the code holds up from across a road, not just a few steps away.

Drove the ring road once and never stopped talking about it? Place the oval off to one side of the badge on your hatchback, the way travel ovals have always sat. It belongs on your car too if Iceland is where your family comes from.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
