Where it fits

A rear window corner, a toolbox lid, a cooler side or a laptop lid. Any hard, smooth surface takes a decal: glass, paint, metal, hard plastic. Read how to apply a vinyl decal before it goes on.

How it goes on

  1. Wash the spot with soapy water, dry it, then wipe it with rubbing alcohol.
  2. Tape the decal across its middle, step back and check it sits level.
  3. Peel one half of the backing, press from the tape outward with a card, then do the other half.
  4. Peel the top sheet back on itself, slowly and close to the surface.

About this design

Caliber numbers in a solid oval

Inside two oval rings sits a filled oval of vinyl, and ".38" is cut out of it in round, friendly numerals with a dot for the decimal point. Here the numbers are the openings, so whatever surface lies underneath shows through as the lettering. Heavy and simple, it reads like a road sign from several lengths back.

Revolver owners who like the old travel-oval look, try it on the door of your gun safe, centered at eye level. It works on a bumper or the corner of a hatch too. You get one oval in one piece, easy to line up straight.

Before it goes on glass

Keep any decal off the windshield. On the rear window, California, Texas and Florida tie a decal to outside mirrors on both sides, New York bars stickers its DMV commissioner has not authorized, and your own state may differ, so read its vehicle code.
